About

The Department of Civil Engineering(UG) was established during the year 2005-2006 with an intake of 60.PG-ME (Structural Engineering ) was started in the year 2011-12 with an intake of 18.The Department is constantly being strengthened by the intake of qualified and experienced teaching faculty. The Department of Civil Engineering has professionally equipped Laboratories like strength of Materials Laboratory, Survey laboratory, Environmental Engineering Laboratory , Hydraulics Laboratory , Transportation and Concrete Laboratory and Soil Engineering Laboratory. Major equipment are UTM 400 KN capacity, compression testing machine, Hardness Testing Machine, Impact Testing Machine, and Wood Testing Machine and Total Station. Consultancy work is being taken with various Government and Private construction companies Total Station and Testing of materials like Cement, Bricks, Corse aggregated Soil and Rebar. Students are being motivated in presenting papers on various topics at various Colleges and Universities. In-Plant training is arranged during vacation period in Large Scale Construction industries. The Department is registered in Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) and the Student Chapter of ICI (LM 8965) is actively organizing various programmes constantly. The Student Chapter of ICI received “ICI ALL INDIA BEST STUDENT CHAPTER AWARD” and also “ULTRATECH BEST OUTSTANDING CHAPTER AWARD” for the year 2010-2011. Five days Masons Training Program (every year), Two Days Workshop on GIS and GPS Applications in Civil Engineering, One Day Workshop on Total Station, AICTE sponsored faculty Development Program on Failure of Structures for 14 Days and one Day faculty Development Program on Total Station, One Day Workshop for Students on Town Planning and two day Workshop on finite element analysis using ANSYS were organized by the Department. Special Guest lectures are arranged in each semester on various topics beneficial to the students, Job oriented valued added courses like ARCHICAD, STAAD. Pro, Web designing and advanced Auto CAD is being conducted for the students. Faculty members are motivated to attend and present papers in various Faculty Development Program, Conference, Journals organized in other Engineering Colleges like NIT, IIT and many other Universities.

Objectives

Successfully obtained employment in their areas of expertise in the public or private sector.
Successfully enrolled in the graduated Engineering or other professional program.
Understand the necessity of teamwork in Engineering practice. Be able to communicate effectively in professional settings. Understand and be able to account for the effects of their professional
decision on the quality of life and the environment.
Continue to seek further education in a process of life-long learning.

Our Goals


Research- To excel in targeted and emerging areas of Civil infrastructure research and to increase national and international visibility in those areas.

Teaching- To attract high-quality students, prepare and educated graduate students to be the leaders in their chosen field.
Partnership- To work as valued partner with outside constituencies within the state, National and Internationally, in addressing societal problems and challenges related to civil infrastructure.
Collegiality-To Develop Departmental collegiality, resources, community, and staff to support the achievement of goals 1 through 3.
